So this spring wont be very busy at work so I was thinking of getting a cert or two.
What do you guys think would be more worthwhile. A MCITP or a CCNA? |

Depends on what you want to do. Do you want to concentrate on OS related work or move more into the network. Both are plenty of memorization. My last Microsoft cert was NT 3.51 in 1995 and I think my CCNA expired in 1997. If you are doing this to buff up your resume, be prepared to answer some in-depth questions. I have interviews many paper-CCIEs that couldn't troubleshoot their way out a of a paper bag. They were very good at memorizing material but not able to apply it.

The CCNA seems to have lost a lot of its appeal lately. I haven't renewed mine and mine expired years ago... I don't know if I care enough to renew it. Why not aim for something a little higher? I was pursuing my CISSP but that didn't work out too well because I just didn't have time for it and ended up stopping the program midway.... probably a real stupid move but at the time it was reasonable for me... lol

I would say the two paths are not really comparable. One is networking and security, and the other will be an OS cert. Which one do you see yourself more interested in, maybe that's the question that needs to be answered.
