So I have a SASLP-MV8 in my system that runs Server 2008 R2, but whenever I hotswap a drive the system locks up and I have to do a hard reset (read pull the power).
That cannot be right. I mean what could possibly cause such a thing? |

I assume the SASLP-MV8 is a "plain Jane" SAS/SATA controller, with no RAID capability.
Question: do you have AHCI enabled on this controller? Question: do you have drives on this controller configured in a software RAID? Question: what drives are you using? |

Also, did you install the correct drivers? I know supermicro has several drivers and half of them work's ok, but gives out weird errors. Was this the driver from the cd that was provided?

I used the drivers on the supplied cd with mine in my WHS machine and I'm able to hot swap without any problems. Mobo is Gigabyte AMD 790 board with AHCI enabled.

Yep same here. The supplied drivers on the CD's are the correct ones. The downloaded ones seems to be mislabeled or incompatible.

I used the downloaded ones cause i thought they would be newer. Also do yall get SMART data in windows from the SASLP? |
